Cody' Planet

        Cody was a 9-year-old boy dreaming about discovering a planet. 

        “It would be so cool to discover a planet.  I wonder what I would call it.” 

21 years later 

        Cody was now a scientist trying to find out more about the solar system.  He’d just found out he could go on a rocket ship to discover a new planet.  He packed his things and kissed his wife and kids good bye.

        “See you later Louis’ Anne.” said Cody. 

        “We’ll see you papa.” chorused Louis and Anne. 

        “See you sweet.” he said to his wife. 

        Cody then left in a taxi to go to the NASA space camp.  In 2 hours he was suited up and ready to go.

        “5 4 3 2 1.” said president Neely of NASA.  Pilot Andean was in place and so was co-piloting Robert.

        “5 4 3 2 1 blast off!” Neely said again.  The rocket ship blasted off into outer space. 

        “This is pilot Andean to main control.  We are now in space.” 

        “This is main control to pilot Andean.  We heard you.”  5 hours later after going beyond the asteroid belt and Jupiter pilot Andean and co-pilot Robert stopped the rocket ship.  

        “It’s 9:00 in earth time so let’s tack up our sleeping bags and go to bed.” Andean said.  But Cody couldn’t sleep.  He missed his children and his wife.  He went over to the cockpit and looked out the window.  He gasped at what he saw.  Out ahead was a planet with the most beautiful rings he had ever seen.  It glittered with light from the stars and looked like gold rings in the sky.  He woke everybody up and they gathered ’round in their pajamas and slippers.  They too gasped. 

        “It’s beautiful.” Andean said. 

        “It’s wondrous.” Robert gasped. 

        “I’ll name it Saturn.” Cody said. “After the Saturn jewelry store and because the rings look like gold rings.” 

17 years later 

        Cody Buckner was now the most famous scientist of all time!  He had discovered that while their rocket ship was floating around in space he’d missed out on another planet.  He named it Jupiter.  Cody also went on to discover Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. 

        His children Louis and Anne grew up to be the most famous oceanologists of time!  They discovered the giant squid and giant catfish while in the Pacific.  This is the end of Cody’s Planet!
