七年級/又來了?世界地理競賽!(下)
除了上國家地理網站回答問題的規定以外,我還在網友polar的部落格上看到一個有趣的遊戲,叫做Free Rice,﹙http://freerice.com/index.php﹚,裡面有包括英數、名畫、語言、化學和地理的問題,每答對一題,網站就會捐十粒米給貧窮國家,螢幕上右手邊有個木頭碗,米粒跟著答對的題數增加,每滿一百粒就倒空碗裝盤,米粒越來越多,成就感也越來越高。
姊妹倆都很愛玩,妹妹常玩數學的乘法題,因為簡單;姊姊各種類型都試過。地理不難,有一項是凱經常和她們練習的首都,另一項是看地圖找國家,比較難,幾乎都是非洲小國。英文呢?其實滿難的,有字義和文法,凱居然也會錯文法!名畫題我比較喜歡,全是有名畫家的畫作,不過題庫不多,回答幾題以後,大半就開始重複,或是很容易因為畫風相近猜對。

參加美國中學的樂隊(上)
在網友可頌的這篇文章裡,看到現在新新人類,很殘忍地對身高不到一八○的男生稱之為半殘,這跟我是沒關係啦,我反正是女生。不過,依此類推的話,我可能會被歸成女生的全殘!不過說真的,現實生活上,是會帶來不少不便,像是好看的衣服鞋子都太大啦之類的。

天啊!台灣小四考修辭!那美國呢?(下)
前面提過,美國五年前給小二的學生,上過稍微可以跟我們的修辭學沾上邊的文法課,後來取消了,那麼他們的英文不教文法嗎?當然不是,他們也教文法。不過這一停,就停了五年,直到七年級,才又開始文法教學。
七年級的大女兒,上的是英文資優班,男老師一開學就要學生每星期默寫十三條文法,包括什麼叫動詞、名詞、代名詞啦、什麼叫獨立子句?什麼叫附屬子句…等觀念。是的,你沒看錯,到七年級才開始教什麼叫動詞名詞,我記得女兒小學五年級時,曾經跟她解釋副詞的觀念,她一臉迷惑,一副完全沒聽過的樣子,可是那時她已經看過傲慢與偏見和小婦人這類古典小說!我在美國算是外來民族,沒任何立場跟老師反應該怎麼教英文,只能靜觀其變。
